Oleku Band gig (and Afresh soundcheck) on the Seafront, on Saturday
I really wanted to see Oleku Band, Afresh, and Natty Wailer, on Saturday, but since I've only 2GB memory card, it's only (just) enough for photos and videos of one gig, which meant that I had to miss Afresh while going home to transfer the Oleku Band files to the laptop =/
However, when I arrived at the bandstand, Afresh were doing a soundcheck, so at least I got to see that! These first pictures are of the soundcheck, but there's no video.. (They sounded really good, btw!)
Weather was depressing - it kept raining, although it did eventually lessen down to a drizzle.
Some soundcheck pics..
And then, Oleku Band;
At this point, I really must thank the guy from Afresh (?) who held an umbrella for me. There was no way I could have shot a video in that rain, without umbrella protection! (Of course, it's a shame that I had to miss their gig, later! Would have been decent to get a video of that as well!)
I was sort of expecting the piece of music to end, so I could get a "full track" video, but it was flowing, so eventually I just jumped in and got a pretty long video, although totally worth listening to.
Umbrella protected =)
I met M again, whom I'd met at the Senegalese stand, earlier on. She didn't stay long, though - her stand was probably still open, nearby.
I'm not blogging all the pics, but click on these to browse them all on flickr..
Amazingly, the band managed to get audience members to join them and dance on stage, so the weather didn't totally ruin the gig! I spent the last of my memory card on getting that on video;
