Victoria's Way - Indian sculpture park, Roundwood (September 2011)
It's taken me a while to upload these photos - almost nine months! There are 162 pictures, so I'm not going to blog them all, but if anyone wants to take the whole virtual tour, start from here, and keep clicking the "Newer" link on top right of each photo..
This little hut (top left) is where you pay the small fee - I don't like to mention the amount, in case it changes.. =) However, it's very small, and you'll get a fantastic experience for it, rain or shine! (Wear wellies or hiking boots, or go on barefoot.. The ground can be very damp, even if it hasn't rained recently..)
This is the entrance..
There's a huge field..
Looking left and right.. It really is a huge field..
The first elephants / Ganesh sculptures.. Take your time checking them out, there are lots of interesting and unique details..
Paddy Ganesh =) (See the pint of Genius..)
The textures and other details are amazing, considering it's all black granite..
I like to touch that big round tummy. It's so smooth..
The Spiritual Wisdom Seat..
When you sit on the snake seat, this is what you see.. That's The Great Sugar Loaf mountain, in the distance..
Those are some aggressive looking nipples.. :o
I love the path that takes you to all the forest sculptures.. It reminds me of some vintage Bollywood movies..
This is one of my favourites..
Yes, the phone is a part of this sculpture.. =)
These stupas are newish - that part of the park was not totally finished, last September. I haven't been there yet, this year..
This reminded me of the Broken Sword games (and many other computer games).. =D
If you planned ahead and grabbed some coffee and omnoms from Roundwood Centra, this is the perfect spot to enjoy them..
How will you make God smile?
This is the end of the outdoor tour..
There are photos of making of the sculptures.. Very interesting as well!
There's also a little shop with mini statuettes, Indian jewellery, incense, etc.. All kinds of lovely things for very low prices..
